Dentist, GDC no. 85543

I am Dr Ruby Mahal.  I am joint principle and owner at JDRM Dental Care.  I qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2005 with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery.  Thereafter, I spent 2 years gaining experience in maxillofacial surgery in hospital dentistry.  I have a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry including short-term orthodontics as well as general dentistry.

My role within the company is centered around clinical and team aspects.  I have a strong belief that a motivated and content team is the key to a great and honest experience for our patients.

I share my time between clinical dentistry, training young dentists and examining dentists for the Royal College of Surgeons Faculty of Dental Surgery, of which I am a member.  I also have a keen interest in local dental politics.  I have been elected to represent the local profession as Secretary of the Local Dental Committee for Leicestershire.

Outside of dentistry, I love playing Netball, travelling to places I’ve never visited, spending time with my family, wine and cooking (contrary to my husbands beliefs).

Specialist Orthodontist,GDC No. 85538

I originate from a small town called Newcastle under Lyme, close to Stoke on Trent. At the age of 18 I left home and went to study Dentistry at the University of Birmingham; it was there that I developed an interest in Orthodontics, and decided that this was the career for me.

After several years working in hospital I completed a specialist training programme, leading to the attainment of the Membership in Orthodontics, being able to call myself a Specialist Orthodontist. I now enjoy working in practice, where I provide a range of orthodontic treatments, including conventional fixed braces, Incognito braces on the inside of the teeth, tooth-coloured braces and Invisalign. I enjoy the challenge of treating a range of cases, and creating a beautiful smile for everyone from teenagers to adults.

In my spare time I am fond of cycling and hiking; in winter I enjoy skiing, although I am atrocious at it! Other interests include reading, cookery and I’m learning to play golf.
